voice synthesis using startup and shutdown voice?

I have knoppix 5 . Is there a way to generate voice files using the same voice as the used in the "Initiating Startup Sequence" voice on bootup? I'd like to generate some more custom voice messages. You know...like "Please confirm initiation of Thermonuclear Meltdown" or that sort of thing... Thanks!

I'm thinking those are recordings of a human's voice, with added effects (according to my ear, anyway.) Try searching the web/wikipedia for more info, or look on the knoppix disk itself for attribution.

ah that's a shame. The knoppix startup/shutdown voice would have been perfect. I did get something close by using a TTS female voice from att's site, and a couple of hours with audacity.
