What is the default keyring? Can it be disabled?

Trying to connect to a wireless network but interrupted by the default keyring wanting a password. I just deny the request 2 times, it goes away and then I'm able to enter my WPA password to connect to the network.

I'm able to connect but this keyring wants a password that I don't know. Would really like to disable it all together. Knoppix 6.2.1
