The last weeks there has been a long discussion, how to integrate all of persistent memory in a new builded Filesystem Image (KNOPPIX) and how to wipe out all the outdated stuff in the old KNOPPIX.

The suggestions made in the threads didn't convince me and seemed to complicated. Therefore I tried another way (http://www.wp-schulz.de/knoppix/recombine.html):

Not for unexperienced users!

You need a partition with free space enough for the new builded KNOPPIX and the copy of the UNIONFS. Copy the two sample files and the two scripts on this partition. Edit the sample files (exclude_rcb and include_rcb for the rsync command) as you need for your own.

Boot your Flash-Disk installation and start "kn-recombine".

After this boot Knoppix from a Live CD or from a Harddrive Installation and start "kn-newflash".

All further explanations are in the scripts.

But first of all: Backup your files before you try the scripts!

I've adapted and improved my script "kn-recombine" to use for Knoppix V7.0.x DVD
