Hmm. The ftp server must be a bit overloaded right now cause I can't get in.

A quick question.

I really like the fact that you have included helpful midi and musical score programs like Rosegarden4, Timidity and Brahms: especially Rosegarden4.

According to this (http://www.all-day-breakfast.com/rosegarden/requirements.html) Rosegarden4 apparently needs ALSA (http://www.alsa-project.org) and JACK (http://jackit.sourceforge.net). Does Medialinux include these?

Cool- is there an md5sum anywhere to be found? Perhaps I missed it.

Neither will my copy. It prints some characters on the screen and freezes. Could the ISO file be corrupt on the server?

well - the iso is probably broken ... i can mount it via loop but a lot of files are missing some data ....

Sorry for the inconvenience, my ISO is working , so I think there has been a problem while uploading. Tomorrow morning I will try again.
For MD5, I really didn't think about it: do you have any suggestions ?

I suggest just doing an md5sum on a verified ISO file and then posting the md5sum here or on the ftp site.

Agreed, except that is should absolutely be posted on the site; don't make people who find the site track down the md5sum. Posting here also would be ok, but not instead of on the FTP site.

Since I'm using on my office pc a Debain Unstable up to date on 13 and used Gftp for it, It may happened something during transmission. Tomorrow I will make the MD5 checksum and try to upload a new iso.

Check it out! m.

you could try "rsync" instead ... could be MUCH faster ....

md5sum medialinux-alpha-130603.iso
9ff22258adada4c4c32572501803f7b5

Hmmmm. not sure how I managed to post the above. I was trying to post the software included but exploder crashed on that stupid wimpdoze machine- I didn't think it posted anything and here I see it's just an incomplete listing. DOH!

edit

Well ayy to answer your question: The Alsa headers are included as is Jack. I was going to post the entire software list but oi vey it's a BIG one and sort of unnecessary.

Anyway- if I get a chance I'll mount/boot the .iso I have and see what happens.

Anyone have had other problems downloading the iso ?
Going on with the next one based on Knoppix 060603
Bye, m.

p.s. suggestion for inclusion/exclusion of software are all welcome, we are doing this for our school and I have some idea to remove non user friendly/buggy/old software and rearrange theme and icons.

I'd like to see abcde added to your distro.

Sorry for not having said: iso starts by default with this :

knoppix lang=it xmodule=vesa

this was because we wanted people from our school ( www.vrmmp.it/formazione ) to test it at home without doing anything than change bios boot order and press return ;-)

You simply have to press f2 at the blue V logo and write:

knoppix lang=yourlanguage and xmodule=moduleforyourcard
