Hello,
Please find below my wish list of features for the forthcoming Knoppix 7.0.4:
1) Oprofile support: kernel module & profiling tools.
2) Kernel compiled with the Knoppix installed gcc version (no gcc / kernel version mismatch)
3) add /lib64 minimal libraries allowing 64 bits code execution: libc, ld-linux.
4) add NX back either from freeNX or nomachine for remote access.
5) add other kernel(s) for high end processors (remove the 386 backward compatibility, more cores, ...)
6) set the default editor of midnight commander (mc) to internal instead of vi.
Please feel free to comment and/or add your own wish list of new features.
Best Regards,
Gilles

Hi, Gilles.
My wishlist includes:

1) A spell-checking text editor like leafpad, but one that doesn't
bring in a lot of kde or gnome or libreoffice infrastructure.

2) Listing out KNOPPIX1, KNOPPIX2, etc on boot--if they are there. A simple
addition to /init (as there already is for update*.tar.gz).

3) Get Brasero to behave better on inputting file choices from PCManFM.

4) Kill the occasionally-missing-frames bug; never mind the neat 3D-restart.

5) A way to snapshot and collect all my browser tweaks for easy re-import
on the next upgrade. That, is bookmarks, history, and the about:config stuff,
all in one place.

ps.
I don't expect KK is listening in a 7.0.4-receptive mode.
Perhaps we should allow him until 7.1.
pps.
My mc comes up with nano.

Cheers.
