How do I update IcedTea?

I'm using Knoppix 7.0.4. I tried apt-get, but it didn't find it. I tried downloading the latest IcedTea v6, but the /configure failed and make failed too (of course?) It is possible that the install didn't work because I didn't have it in the right place. There is too much I don't know about Knoppix.

sudo apt-get -t sid install icedtea-7-plugin
