View Full Version : Recuperate data from hdd

I had ubuntu in my computer. Recently it colapse.

I installed Knoppix to try recuperate the data , but the partions are not shown in the desktop. Why? I dont know.
I can not mount the partitions due to this problems.

Can I create a new partition on the colapsed hhd to install Knoppix there?

In step than run cd live Knoppix? Copy in a new partition along side the Ubuntu OS,
can any body pls comments.

If your operating OS is damaged and you want to save some datas from it, do not writing operations to this harddrive anymore. Only use a Knoppix Live CD/DVD or a flash disk installation and an external harddrive to save datas.

With the filemanager PCManFM (the second icon in the panel) you can see - if not damaged - the partitions of the harddrive and mount them by selecting with the mouse.

Otherwise, if there are no partitions, tell us the output from
blkidand
fdisk -l(lowercase "L").
