Trying to run 3d Home design package called Sweethome3D under Knoppix. Comes is 32-bit and 64-bit flavours. 32-bit flavour runs with Kubuntu, but 64-bit flavour does not run with 64-bit Knoppix on 64-bit Acer X1301. No error messages, either running from GUI start or terminal start. Obviously something is missing or not set up right ... any immediate helpful suggestions?

Sweethome3D is a java application. You only need a working java environment. I don't think that there is any advantage if it is used with a 64-bit java edition.

Knoppix 7 DVD does not come with a full set of 64-bit libraries that are needed to run 64-bit java. If you try to install openjava-7-jre for amd64 architecture you will get many errors because some libraries may not be installed in both 32-bit and 64-bit at the same time.

If you really want to use Knoppix 7 as operating system you must use the 32-bit flavour of Sweethome3D although the Linux kernel architecture might be 64-bit.
