Good morining to all!
XVkbd 's (an on-screen keyboard) default is the US keyboard layout. With a couple of
clicks, it can be changed to suit other languages, e.g French. But that change is not
memorized.
The author's (Tom Sato) Manual seems to imply that the default keyboard can be
changed but it is not clear enough for me to implement.
Googling around did not offer any working solution.
Can anyone help?

Ps.- Using Knoppix 7.2, with language=en and keyboard=fr.

Hi Werner
I have language=en and keyboard=fr in syslinux.cfg. That tells Knoppix to display a French keyboard allright, no problem, but xvkbd itself is not looking there.

There is also the cheatcode "knoppix xkeyboard=.."

No joy with that cheatcode.
So I kept searching the internet and found a solution on the forum of linuxfr.org [<linuxfr.org/forums/astucesdivers/posts/clavier-virtuel-xvkbd-et-parametrage-par-defaut-azerty-francais>].
That solution is to add the line:
#include "XVkbd-french"
into:
/etc/X11/app-defaults/XVkbd
but I would have preferred making some entry in /home/.xvkbd itself.
