Just want to know if there is any special reason why the clooped file system is ISO9660 as it is just a 'loopback' device which can be ext2/3 or any other fs.

Any partiticular advantage/disadvantage of using ISO9660 ?

iso9660 is optimized for read-only speed, so using ext2 is really a waste, because you cannot write to it, and it would be slower ( and maybe larger ).
