Re: Knoppix 7.0.3 CD
Knoppix 5.1.1 CD

Hi,

Sourceforge appears to have a linux driver for the RTL 8185L chipset for:

54M
Wireless G
PCI Adapter

link (http://www.manualslib.com/manual/389236/Tp-Link-Tl-Wn353g.html)

Driver A:

link2 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/rtl8180-sa2400/)

Driver B:

link3 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/rtl818x/)

Q1: How can one verify that an RTL 8185L driver got bundled w/referenced knoppix versions?

Q2: Since knoppix did not detect/install a driver for the adapter, what's the correct indexing for a sourceforge install?

Regards,
luther

Hi,

I think the drivers you found are too old to work with current Linux kernels.

The page rtl818x (https://wiki.debian.org/rtl818x) in the Debian wiki says the 8185L by Realtek should be supported by the kernel module rtl8180. What is the PCI id of your wireless network card?

Q1: Is kernel module rtl8180 bundled w/knoppix 7.0.3.LiveCD?

Q2: How does this package become functional, if it is?

Why do you look for a dead project?
As of October 12th 2011, the service and website appears to be offline and no longer functional (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZoneCD). No warning or feedback was given by the developer.

Hi rayjay,

I think VMware creates a raw floppy image without a FAT. Thus you have to format your floppy image before you can use it. I would suggest that you download Knoppix 7.2.0 CD and boot your virtual machine using the Knoppix ISO. Then connect your floppy image to the virtual machine and open an LXTerminal. Issue the command
mformat -f1440 a: to format your HD floppy image. Use -f2880 if you created a 2.88 MB floppy image. Afterwards, reboot your virtual machine using the ZoneCD ISO and connect your floppy image to the virtual machine when your are asked to insert a floppy disk. Then continue the setup.

I hope that helps.
