Lost Data Moving files

I was trying to move files from the hard disk of a laptop onto a flash drive as the computer has many problems and I wanted my data saved to a flash drive before wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows. Being new to Knoppix I accidentally hit move file instead of copy file which was all of my documents and settings. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to recover the lost documents and setting on the computer.
