Endless Open Office Installation Pain...

I have managed to get into a situation where I have two installations of open office, 1.1 beta and 1.0.3. Neither show up on apt-get remove or purge, I have 'successfully' removed them using that, and yet they are still there.
Do I just need to delete the directories containing these? They still run, and are still on the k menu - I am worried about breaking things by not uninstalling them properly.

What do you get when you do:
dpkg -l |grep ffice? It could be you did remove one of them but the menu links both point to the same place. If you do have two of them you'd save a lot of HD space by removing them and maybe save yourself some potential upgrade problems.
