Can't copy files to Server

Hello,

I've just installed KNOPPIX on a laptop that has a corrupt XP operatinb system. Did this so that could recover the 4000+ files off it.
MAnaged to get the laptop to see Windows network and files/shares on W2K server. Managed to copy several files across to server using Konqueror, but now it it refusing to let me copy files from Knoppix system to W2K server
I get the foillowing error message:

Could not make directory........etc.

What is wrong?
