My suggestion to you would be:

1. Boot from the CD and get a working configuration for the X server.
2. Copy the configuration to your HD install by mounting the HD and copying the file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to the HD. These steps in a console window (the clam shell icon on the taskbar)

Could I do the samething with the netwok card, since I get to configure network with the cd but I can get it working with the HD. I have finished copied on a HD, when I run netcardconfig it says "no supported network cards found"...

I still very new to linux

It is best to start a new thread maybe refering to the post that you think is relevant in another thread with a url to the thread also I have split your post to a new topic that being said on to your problem.

Some things you can try boot from the cd check the module loaded for your card by using the command lsmod then boot from the HD and repeat the process to comfirm the module has been loaded for your card (BTW details on the type of card would make it easier to help). Also try ifconfig -a in both a HD and CD boot note any changes.

Some things you can do to help us help you:
Post the output of lsmod ,ifconfig -a both from CD and HD boot and lspci -v all these commands in a console window. Also you do not say whether you connect via DHCP or static settings.

I'm trying to solve by myselft but there's no luck...

I'm going to post what you mentioned above and I hope to solve my problem. By the way I'm using DHCP but I have tried configuring by static settings and is the exactly samething...

This is the output on the HD

knoppix@ttyp0[knoppix]$ modprobe sis900 (nothing showed up but with the HD is says the above)

With the lsmod from the HD is the reiserfs all that appears? That certainly seems strange if it is there should be more modules loaded. Here is another part that is wrong when you modprobe it is looking in the wrong place for the modules.

root@xwekbal01:~# modprobe sis900
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB/modules.dep (No such file or directory)

Have you installed a different kernel it should be looking in /lib/modules/2.4.20-xfs/modules.dep which is the kernel that knoppix uses which version are you running? From the HD what does the output of uname -a tell you mine for example:

[11:50 PM Wed Jul 09: stephen @ ~]
>$ uname -a
Linux HappyTux 2.4.20-xfs #1 SMP Mit Mär 26 15:37:36 CET 2003 i686 GNU/Linux

Yours should be the same except for the HappyTux which is my machine's name it should be what you choose for yours. Something else you can post is the output of dmesg (the boot messages) from a console. Just use dmesg > dmesg.txt which will output the messages to a file dmesg.txt in the current directory which you can put on a floppy to post from your other install.

Something you may want to try when you get to the LILO boot screen type in linux noapic I've seen a few post where the network card is not detected without the noapic but unless the looking for the modules in the wrong spot is solved I doubt if it will work still there's no harm trying anyway.

Thank you a lot, that uname -a helped me a lot, somehow I got it installed with the ext3, so I installed with ext2 and now is working just fine, I have updated and my next questions is: I'm in guatemala and the main language is spanish, I got almost everything in spanish but the openoffice, koffice, gimp, it's almost all the productive application aren't in spanish. What should I do next to fix all this...

Direct me for the help, please...
