what's a good partioning scheme for knoppix? i noticed that knoppix asks for at least a 2.2gb / partition. does that mean / and /usr resides in one partition??

That means everything the whole system is installed to the / partition and a minimum or 128mb for a /swap that you will have to create also. You can however move directories to other partitions once they are installed the how-to is here (http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/HomePartitionHowTo) this is for a /home partition but it can be used for any other partition you would like to create.
