Newbie Modem problems...

Hey - running Knoppix off CD

Trying to connect to the net, modem not autodetected but seems to work on /dev/ttyS1.

when I connect it finds the modem and initializes, but thats as far as it gets.

any ideas?

You might want to download and run the scanModem tool from http://www.linmodems.org to see if you have a winmodem that needs special drivers.
