crash during installation

i've just got a copy of knoppix 3.2 from a magazine. when i boot my pc the system start but suddenly stops giving me the following message:
unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000
code: Bad EIP value
<0>kernel panic: attempted to kill init
i'am in panic too.
what is going on?

Have you tried any cheat codes?

I suggest trying "failsafe" If you're able to boot up with the failsafe option then, then you should try other cheat codes until you can isolate what piece of hardware may be causing you problems.

You may want to also check some settings in your bios. Try disabling pnp if it's on.
