Hi folks,

I'm relatively a novice KNOPPIX user. I managed to get HDD install which works awesome.

I've one SONY DVD-RW and one SONY DVD-ROM, both connected as internal (IDE) drives.

Knoppix recognizes my DVD-RW but doesn't allow me to burn CDs from K3b. It says there is no burner present and it sees my DVD-RW as CD-ROM :cry:

It totally doesn't detect my DVD-ROM.

Any help on getting both drives detected and make me use my DVD-RW as CD-RW from K3b will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Teonardo :)

Here's a post (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2107#9965) about configuring k3b. Also, you can do ls -al /dev/cdrom and ls -al /dev/dvd and find out what devices those symlinks are actually pointing to. Here's mine for examle:

ls -al /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root 0 9 Jul 24 18:15 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/scd0

Sice we're using SCSI emulation, the device "/dev/cdrom" is just a symbolic link to the actual device /dev/scd0. The first drive on the SCSI BUS.
