Problem : when i boot with the CD on one of my PC, the boot process stops after the message "INIT: version 2.78-knoppix booting", i.e. before the processor detection message
(the cd player keeps turning for about 15 seconds then stops, then nothing ...)

1/ the CD is OK - i have "testcd'd" it on other machines and the md5 is ok,

2/ i have tried the various cheats documented
- knoppix noscsi nopcmcia nousb noagp noswap noapm noapic nomce noddc
- fb800x600, ...
- failsafe
- expert
- knoppix 2
and the result is the same

3/ I tried to boot with a floppy made with knoppix
same result ...

I would like to troubleshoot the problem but i don't know where to start ...
Please help !!!!

PS : Knoppix version is 3.2 (26/07/2003 snapshot)

I suspect a problem with some aspect of this PC, possibly the CD drive itself. Can you try swapping drives?

--Try:
' knoppix 2 vga=normal pci=biosirq '
or
' knoppix failsafe '.

--If it boots into the 1st one, you can start KDE by:
' su knoppix '
' startx '
