maybe cause it's brand new.

at the begining when i first boot off of it it loads to the boot:

no matter what i type it tries to go through some sort of loading thing then at the end of every line it says

"end_request: I/O error, dev f0:00 (cloop) sector #######"

then it says
"Done.
Starting init process.
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel."

then leaves me with a cursor but i can't type anything.

what the H bomb?

also at the very begining before it does the above it says

caution: ATI radeon IGP northbridge chipset is not yet fully tested

this is knoppix 3.2 release 2003-07-26-beta

update: it says free memory =0kb as well.

think since it doesn't know how to use my northbridge that it can't get to my memory?

Hi,

I don't know which laptop you have but....
I've been having a lot of problems with 07-26 on my laptops.
The Portege 4000 Toshiba is not working with it. I'm also
having problems with the Toshiba 6100 Satelite pro series
and a few others.

I've gone back to 06-06 which works flawlessly with it.
06-06 has no problems with any of the Satelite pro series
from the 4200 to the new M10's

Hope this helps, Tom

I might be mistaken here, but it looks to me like a problem with reading your CD and not some install/hardware problem. I would reccommend that you try with another CD. HTH

The md5sum is used to verify the file that you downloaded. You should check the .iso against the md5sum before burning the .iso. You don't need to put the md5sum on the disc you burn.

Here's how to use the md5sum under windows (http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/FaqDownloading).
