n00b question about booting :D

I burned my Knoppix distro to CD today and managed to get it to the boot screen. However, when I boot (without cheatcodes), the autoconfiguration gets to the end and hangs there.

I run a.....
Intel Motherboard (locked)
Pentium 4 1.8GHZ
512 MB RAM
Geforce 4 Ti 4800 SE
Soundblaster 5.1

I know there is probably an easy solution that is jumping around in front of my face but oh well :)

What type of motherboard? The rest of the hardware looks fine to me, GeForce's run very smooth under Linux. Or is it a laptop? Graphics chipsets fo laptops are always different than the 'real ones', don't ask me why. It could also be the Soundblaster that gives hickups. Try the cheatcode "knoppix alsa" to boot with ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) support, or "knoppix noaudio".
