we have a nt4 server at home (running msproxy 2.0) :(
name: deathstar
ip: 10.2.1.1
workgroup: starwars

my pc (knoppix 3.2 & win2k) :)
name: bart
ip: 10.2.1.8
workgroup: workgroup

i managed to see the nt server and have mounted some networkdrives (mp3 and so) in my knoppix session.
the problem is i can't connect to internet, on win2k i had to install msproxy client (after i installed that i can connect to internet using IE (without using a proxy in options :) )
i tried everything, i even tried installing msproxy client on knoppix using wine LOL ( that didn't work DUH !!)
my hosts table is ok it has the server(10.2.1.1) in it and i(10.2.1.8) am too.
i would like to change my domain name (where can i change that ??)
if anyone has succeeded in connecting to internet plz tell me how u did :p

thnx.

unfortunatly, I found the same trouble while at school. They used ms proxy 2.0 and then installed ISA server. The problem is you are using ntlm authentication. Linux unfortunately cannot use it natively because it's part of M$ proprietary products.
There is information on how to get squid to work with ntlm authentication but I haven't had time to get it working
the first link here is how the ntlm authentication works, while the others are bookmarks on the subject I've had for some time now and is suppost to get it working correctly.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. But I hope that this sends you in the right direction and that it works for you. Perhaps if you installed IE on linux using wine or crossover it will be able to work for you.

I saw this post a few days ago.

http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4628#21402

Unfortunately, it needs to be installed which is a bit hard(but not impossible) in KNOPPIX.

first of all thnx for the help people :p

before making the first post i had already downloaded the util from http://www.geocities.com/rozmanov/ntlm/ but because IE gives error and closes all open IE windows i can't read any usefull hints on howto setup this python based NTLM.

I tried some settings with this ntlm. but it looked like i ran a proxy server myself, so i gave up.

is this the only site that gives support (if it does) if not plz give me a link that works (or copy & paste and mail the text to bart007@zeelandnet.nl )

that would be great... :!:
