Hello,

i just installed knoppix as a hdd install.

I used that install-script "knoppix-install".

When the installation started there was one big empty ext3 partition on my harddisk.

There I installed knoppix.

At the moment I'm not sure, if the script creates automatically a swap partition within this ext3 partition ?

Or do I have to create a swap partition manually ?

How to check this ?

So, if there won't be a swap partition on my system, how can I setup this, after the installations finished ?

Many thanks in advance and
greetings

raphael

On the Knoppix disk there is a usefull gui program called qtparted. With this you can resize and add partitions. Also cfdisk is very good. It can't resize but it is easy to use. Once you make space for a swap partition you do not have to format it. But you do have to mark it with a swap flag. I don't know how this is in qtparted but in cfdisk you just change the partition type to swap. When you run qtparted of cfdisk you will know if you have a swap partition or not on the main screen.
