I'm trying to boot the 01-20-2003 iso. When it gets to the point:
Probing SCSI... aic7xxx.o
it hangs. I've tried both expert and failsafe without success.

I have 2 aic7xxx scsi cards in the box.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Try the noscsi cheat code (F2 at boot up) and see if Knoppix can boot then.

Also have to tried have both cards in with other distros?

I thought scsi you could chain drives, so why two cards?

My Dell PE6100 has 2 78xx cards in it (one is disabled) and it runs knoppix fine. I'll enable the other one and see what it does. (May take a few days for me to report back)

Can't do that. This is a pure SCSI system. The cdrom is SCSI, as well as the hard drive...

Currently it's running redhat 6.1 and works fine, but I want to see if a firewire card I bought will be recognized with a recent kernel before bothering with an upgrade.

You can, but I have 3 SCSI devices:
Wide CDROM (internal)
Ultra Wide Hard Drive (internal)
Wide Tape Drive (external)

Because the tape drive is external, I can't use both the internal and external Wide interface. It's only one or the other.

I have removed the scsi card for the tape drive and it boots fine, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Any other ideas?
