installing games and programs

hey i run version 3.3 from a cd and i was wondering if i can install games and play them while im running 3.3 from a cd, i tried intsalling aol instant messanger (i downloaded the debain type) but it said the disk is read only or something, so hopefully someone can tell me if i can do it running off the cd, and if i cant do it runnin of the cd how i can do it

on the disk is GAIM, so try that as an alternative. Currently they are having problems with connecting to yahoo, but thats with all 3rd party IM tools.

As long as it doesn't have Kopete. I have that on my Slackware Live CD, and that thing never connects, but Konqueror and email program works fine lol.
