GeForce 5200

I have an Emachines t1150 with onboard video and i have bought a geforce 5200. It is the PCI ver. and it works with WinXP but when booting to Knoppix i have no display. The boot screen says it sees the the geforce card but i never get to the desktop. after the boot screen it goes black and then the monitor turns off. Can anyone help.

p.s. i have been instrested in linux for a while but i know nothing.

Try booting with the cheat code (http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/CheatCodes) knoppix xmodule=fbdev at the boot: prompt you may also want to try adding noddc to the cheat code line if the monitor still goes blank.
