Hi,
When I installed knoppix, I ended up with my mail gone from the server, and
copied in the remotest local directory... Did I do something wrong (and what)
or is it normal? And if it's normal, why wasn't a better name found for one
of the directories along the new path than "dt7s75nz.slt"? Of all things...

.slt files are where mozilla stores its -your- messages.
If you check your pop server properties, you'll see that you can
leave the messages on the server, but that's not the default.

A folder in usr/home/ marked "emails"? With the emails neatly listed as seperate files that you could just randomly open?

That would make way too much sense! After all we have to copy commercial programs that try to lock us [and our emails] into continuing to buy from them. Keeping it simple isn't what anybody else does!

I do see your point though, why doesn't local user email have it's own folder in the grand scheme like everything else? Then any program could get to the emails...after all, at one point they had to be in a format that ANY program could read...why is it so hard to KEEP them that way?
