My problem is as following :
I just bought myself a new computer and i want to install win XP Pro on it from the Knoppix CD-ROM.
My problem : it's a new SATA HDD 80gb so it needs to be formatted first, but how do i do that ?? Can i make different partitions ?
Please explain every step detailed because i never worked in knoppix before so i don't know where everything is.

Thanks in advance

Why are you trying to install via Knoppix? WinXP Pro will install itself from CD, including all necessary disk formatting. What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? I'm not meaning to be critical, but your question makes no more sense than asking someone how to swim because you want to go skydiving.

try knoppix qtparted to make partitions
run
sudo qtparted

for xp make a vfat partition.
for linux make an ext3 partition and a litle swap partition (500mb or less)

i do this because is don't have a bootable win xp cd or a 3.5 inch drive.
is vfat the same as ntfs ?

vfat is about the same as FAT32.

Go to bootdisk.com and get yourself some winxp bootdisks.

Now, just why is your XP cd not bootable...?

Sorry, but this place isn't for howto pirate windows.
Just run knoppix-installer and be done with Windows.
