hi,

i just downloaded knoppix 3.3. i have to boot it from floppy, because
my old bios has no support for booting from cdrom. so i made a
bootdisk as described in the docs.

i insert the floppydisk and the knoppix cdrom as well. the system
boots from floppy and i get the knoppix boot screen, but when it tries to load
the kernel i always get "Boot failed: please change disks and try
again".

what is this? do i need special boot parameters? can anybody please
help me?
i tried the bootdisk on several systems. always the same :-( on
systems with bootable cdroms it works very well without the
floppydisk, but when i boot from floppy this systems fail as well

thanks,
rainer

Sounds like your floppy disk might be hosed. Have you tried another? Just to clarify- you just copied the boot.img to a floppy to make the floppy bootdisc right?

yes, the bootdisk seems to be ok. i tried several. i created them under windows with rawrite2 and under linux with dd as descibed in the docs.
when i boot from the disk iget the knoppix lilo bootprompt, but from there on it always says "boot failed: please change disks an trie again". the inserted cd is ok as well, because i can boot from in on an other system.

thanks,
rainer
