I've done some searching here and on a few other linux sites (plus google) but since I dont know exactly what I'm looking for they haven't been alot of help. My ISP is Roadrunner, my cable modem is a Toshiba PCX2200 which is connected to my motherboards ethernet port, NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Controller.

I tried "netcardconfig" and it came back "no supported network card found". ifconfig eth0 returns "error fetching interface information: device not found"

Any idea whats wrong or where I should look for information? I'm also willing to provide any additonal information ya'll made need. (If I can figure out where to find it  )

You need to install NVIDIA drivers. See this long post about the issue:

http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2639&highlight=nforce2

You can use overclockix which is a version of Knoppix that already has NVIDIA drivers.

If you installed to the hard drive, you can follow the instructions on installing the driver here:

The NVIDIA drivers are proprietary, so I think they are left out to keep Knoppix completely free.

Thanks, I'm going to give overclockik a try. I don't have knoppix installed to my HD (yet) since I have a winXP partition with files I want and dont want to take the chance of it getting corrupted until I back some of them up to CDRs. I'd like to move to a linux/winXP dual boot (only keep winxp around for games and apps that dont have a better linux equivalent) when I've got less to lose if XP commits suicide upon repartitioning
