KNOPPIX not working HELP....... again

i posted a subject yesterday saying that knoppix loaded but my screen didnt want so show the desktop.
i have a Athlon 550mhz 3d processor with 180mb ram and a screen running at 800x600
This is it in more detail
what happens is that i boot from the cd and after all the colorful writing saying its loading kernal etc has stopped my screen goes black and then a blue box come up and says:

Out Of Frequency
31-45k
50-120
Check PC
Display Settings

What video card? Have you tried using any of the cheat codes?

these cheat codes are also on your cdrom.
look and see what you could do:

at the bootup promp press F2, you now get the cheatcodes you can enter before the total bootup, now for you try :

knoppix xvrefresh=60 screen=1024x786 (or if that fails 800x600) and boot by pressing enter. Happy knoppixing!

but will this be permanent ,
will i have to type it in every time, or is there a way around that
