View Full Version : running knoppix from command line /total newbie

hi its my first post so if i did sth wrong pls correct me...

i installed knoppix, and at the end there was question sth like of run kde login on startup or sth.... and i clicke no :?

i thought it won't be showing me the login screen, but it runs in text mode...
so coul anyone tell me how to run it from command line? and how to change it to run in normal graphic mode??

Boot Knoppix, when you get to the prompt log in as root then enter:

cd /etc
mc

Arrow down to the file named inittab. Hit the F4 key to open it. There should be a line that looks something like this:

id:3:initdefault:

Change the 3 (or whatever) to a 5.


id:5:initdefault:

HIt F2 to save the file, F10 to exit- reboot.

thx but it didnt work, in fact there was 5 ....
but i've installed it again today, and now my mouse's not working :(
(neither ps2 nor usb)
