I have a toshiba 1405-s151when I try to run knoppix it goes through the install untill it get to "scanning hard disk partion and creating ect/fstab."
And then it just sit there. the cd stops running and nothing else happens.
The disk boots fine in my desk top machine.
any clues?

You may even try using nodma.

Sounds similar to my Satellite 1800-514. It hangs on booting, i just press [enter] and it continues -- then the screen flicks on and off a few times, then when KDE loads it won't pick up my hard drive partitions (even FAT32s). On desktop it runs fine - no hitches!

Thats the part thats bugging me. It won't let me look at my hd, but it works fine on other computers. Toshiba laptops are the only computers (as far as I can tell) that is having this problem. Ne solutions yet???

I run knoppix 3.2 on a Toshiba Satellite 1555CDS with no problems at all. When I try to run knoppix 3.3, I can't get a usable configuration of X for kde. So, maybe the problems are with 3.3.
