I wanted to get the arabic font's happening for some clients of ours (http://www.computerbank.org.au/victoria/) who are sending some computers over to iraq. Knoppix's internationalisation is perfect for this, especially for the kludge hardware we use....anyway, I had this problem about 3 weeks ago with russian. Does anyone know where the arabic fonts are? I found the keyboard map, I found the name clearlyu arabic font listed in kword, but it only comes up with empty blocks (apart from the numerals, heh!)

help appreciated

the weird thing is that the font is listed in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc and it appears in the drop down font menu in kword, and it writes the empty blocks from right to left, but it wont write the bloody font. I should note that for some strange reason it also does not appear in kword->format->font (alt-ctrl-F).

You may want to take a look at Arabeyes (http://www.arabeyes.org/) they have Arabbix a Knoppix derivative.
