i have knoppix and this is my first time using open source. i made a bootdisk and the keyboard layout is in germany. i tyoe the command for a us keyboard and its says not found. what do i do now? i am a total newbie at this. thx for reading my post

Did you download (and then burn) the -DE or the -EN iso image?
At the boot prompt, typing "knoppix lang=us" should work with both.
But wait ... are you booting off the CD or did you install to harddisk?

i believe its the EN because it did work the first time i used it.
as for your 2nd question NO im booting off the floppy disk to my cd-rom. would it be better to install it on my hd?

Did you download and burn yourself? What is the ISO file called?
Also - sorry - if it has worked, it still shoulld since a CD does *not* change ;-)

Doesn't your bios allow you to boot from CD ? That would be much handier.
We should be able to sort out that language problem before you deicde you
like knoppix enough to install to your HD.

Let me re-iterate: at the boot prompt, did you try 'knoppix lang=us" ?
