The common things to try:

First, after you download the iso image, check it using md5sum. A detailed description of how to do it is here:

http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/verifyiso.html

Second, make sure you burn the iso as an image, be sure not to burn a data disk with an iso file on it. You can see that here:

http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/neroburning.html

Third, make sure you set up the BIOS to boot from the CD. Insert the CD and reboot. It shouldn't matter what OS you have installed on your computer. In fact, Knoppix will work without a hard drive. If it still doesn't work, there may be a hardware incompatability problem, but knoppix works on almost anything.

3 out of 5 times "boot failed"

when i do get to the boot screen..

i type "knoppix"

screen goes blank thats it.

I once recieved the error : No signiture file found.
