What does i can ping to my ip mean? If , as it seems, it maens that you can ping your own IP address, of course you can. But that happens completely in the TCP/IP software stack without ever getting to the hardware.

We really need more information to help you. Can you ping another site by URL, like www.knoppix.net? Can you ping another site by IP address like 69.56.166.99? (If the answer to the first is no but the answer to the second is yes then check your DNS server settings.) Do you have a local router, or is your computer connected directly to your broadband modem? What type of broadband is it? DSL? Cable? Why are you saying "I can access the internet?

Can you open any of these sites?:

http://216.239.57.99
http://69.56.166.99
http://206.16.6.208

If any works, you definetely have to change address of DNS server.

Edit:
Ooops I didn't see the post from Harry. He basicaly asked the same thing.

You're rambling on, but you're not telling us anything to help you. It could even be a problem with Knoppix networking that I know a lot about (and have posted about here), but you're not answering simple questions that would lead us to help you. Tell us why you think you "can connect to the Internet". Tell us what works as well as what does not. Tell us your configuration. We can give you the information you need to get on-line, but you have to be willing to help yourself a bit, not just make one post after another with little or no understandable content. I would have posted what I think it is long ago, but since you said "I can access the Internet" I did not (since you could not access the internet if it's what I think it is). When you showed no interest in responding I lost interest too. Now that you've shown some interest again, help yourself and really tell us about your problem and I expect you will get some help. Go back and read my first post and give us some answers and see if that isn't a better way to make things OK.

1stly... i boot my live cd... then i log in as "Knoppix" user... not root ... and i set up pppoe settings.. keyed in my user and password for my broadband... it triggered.. so... i tried to open websites.. but failed... tried mozilla and the other program ... forgot wat it called... well... i then checked the internet connection by opening something hm.... er.... something that sees the status of the internet conenction in knoppix... well... any more else things i muz tell?
