Hi there!

Hey i just heard about knoppix, and i think it's a great ideia to install this distro.. I already have mandrake 9.2 on my main computer.. and i thought that i could install knoppix on a "very old" computer that i have, which is a :

-pentium 166mmx
-24 ram!!!
-HD 220mb!
-cirrus logic 1 mb

Well as you see it's a great computer  ! I just want to run knoppix in text mode.. that's why i think i can install it.. What do you ppl think?? :D

CYA!

I think you'd do better with a minimal Debian installation done with either a cd or floppy installation as the Knoppix filesystem alone needs at least 3M of disc space. The minimum specs can be found in the Docs section linked from the top of this page. For that machine to run Linux think small. I've run Tiny linux on a 486 Digital laptop w 8M. :) That would be the perfect machine to learn Linux on.

For Knoppix is imposible. If you use knoppix-install you need at least 2.2 Gb in HD and 64 Mb Ram for GUI.

BUT, knoppix have children.... try feather linux, based in knoppix, uses minimalistic software and im sure is able to run gui in you machine. Another is "Damm small linux"
