Hello, I'd like to understand better which options are available when a graphics card is not directly supported by XFree86. What is the difference between fb (frame-buffer) and vesa? Also I think fb-support needs to be enabled in the kernel, but is it a yes/no thing, or are there tradeoffs like buffer size allocation controlling the maximum supported resolution, etc... This is nothing knoppix-specific, of course, but if you've got a good link handy which would explain all this, please share. TIA.
