Installing printers

I tried to go through configure printers, but it did not have the driver for my printer and would not recognize the dc in my second CDrom. When I opened up the CDrom on the desktop asked me with what program I wanted to run setup.exe with, shouldn't this just be an executable file. Please help, thanksograms

You should look at:

http://linuxprinting.org/

to see if your printer is linux-compatible and also gives instructions on how to set prineters up. If you have a windows installation disk, it will not work to install drivers in Linux. You have to get a linux driver. For some printers, a generic driver will work, but you should look at the printer list on the link above.
