...hey guys...

First, I'm a newbie to Linux so please excuse the ignorance. Second, I cant get my monitor to work with Knoppix. I have a KDS VS-7i monitor.

Here's the error I get...

OUT OF RANGE
H = 81.4 kHz
V = 100 Hz

I have been to the website and gotten my correct settings.

http://www.kdsusa.com/product_details.asp?prod=188

H = 30 - 70 kHz
V = 50 - 160 Hz

Using the cheatcodes, I place the following at the prompt...

boot: knoppix hsync=60 vsync=100

It just keeps giving me the same error..."OUT OF RANGE." Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or what else I need to input? Thanks!

...Very frustrated...

Have a look at the cheatcodes (http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/CheatCodes)

You can pass the correct H & V sync parameters on boot.

Which "no" command do I use to pass the H & V sync?

None! :)

From the cheatcodes:

xvrefresh=60 or vsync=60
Use 60 Hz vertical refresh rate for X

xhrefresh=80 or hsync=80
Use 80 kHz horizontal refresh rate for X

i tried many times in many systems, I can see the desktop only in an old IBM Pentium I system(Monitor), in all other the moitor light dance,flicker or gives the message Input out of range(Compaq presario).

Please tell where and when exactly i have to type what you have given.
am a newbie but much interested.

Thanks
