Mysql and knoppix

Is it possible to put data into mysql database and run a program using those values with knoppix. I know that all the data in the database will be distroyed after reboot. The program (coded with php) just puts all the data into the database and uses it until reboot. Do I need alot of momory?

works nicely. you can start mysql by typing "mysqld" at a root command prompt.
