My soundcard has gone wacked!

I just installed Knoppix on my laptop. Right when it starts, You hear a big horn (literally) that hurts your ears. Can I have this fixed? Whats the use installing something when there's no audio?

Care to show us the output of "lsmod" and "lspci -v" ? Not telling us anything about your hardware makes it very hard for anyone to help you.
