Hello.
Fresh install of Knoppix 3.3 on a Toshiba Satellite 2400 Notebook.
Everything works fine, but:
I installed mplayer from source. Mplayer only shows a small image (about a fourth of the screen in fullscreen-mode) and also the image is distorted (from 16:9 to 4:3 or so). I can solve the problem with gmplayer -zoom, but then the sound is out of sync and it gets really slow. Any ideas? I tried to start mplayer with about every possible -vo xxxx command.

Thanks,
felixj

I have always installed mplayer using apt-get. You can add:

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

to your sources.list file and "apt-get -t unstable install mplayer-686" will install (assuming you have a pentium, or mplayer-k7 if you have an athlon).

When audio and video are out of sync, it is usually the drivers. Try opening gmplayer and right clicking on the window and select "preferences". Under audio, try switching drivers. I use oss as the audio driver and xv as the video driver.
