icons gone

Hi KDE icons have vanished.
All are the shortcuts to apps such as Firebird and thunderbird trash etc has also gone.
all thats left is the text.
the home dir kde settings do exist and are correct.
no matter what i do i can't get the icons to display.
any ideas?

I did a metasearch of the KDE websites at kde.com and found this blurb

Anyone know how I can research bug #41316?
