Knoppix boots up weird HELP

Ok. This is my issue. Bear with me because I am new to Knoppix and do not know too much!!!! I boot up using the Knoppix 3.3 CD. The penquin comes on the top left and it goes thru the set up. ei, checking soundcard, preparing folders and such. At the bottom it says it needs to shutdown now. It does so, restarts, and then the monitor shows squiggles and other grays lines, like static on a tv. Nothing else. The cd spins for a sec then stops, then spins and stops. After about 5 mins. the cd just stops spinning all together.

Any ideas what is wrong with my system and how I can fix it? I would really appreciate this!!!!

How about some hardware detials. Specifically graphics card/chipset. It is possible to pass parameters to the knoppix kernel through the use of 'cheat codes'. Check the Docs section for more detials.
