with dmesg i get these configuration
i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 6 channels.
i810_audio: Defaulting to base 2 channel mode.
i810_audio: Resetting connection 0
ac97_codec: AC97 codec, id: CMI65 (CMedia)
AC97 codec does not have proper volume support.
i810_audio: only 48Khz playback available.
i810_audio: AC'97 codec 0 Unable to map surround DAC's (or DAC's not present), t
otal channels = 2

When i run xmms from the console i get the follow error:
root@knoppixbox:~# xmms

** WARNING **: alsa_get_mixer(): Attaching to mixer hw:0 failed: No such file or directory

mpg321 plays the mp3 file without problems but xmms and audacity still sending an error
the xmms error says:
please check that
your soundcard is configured properly
you have the correct output plugin selected
no other program is blocking the soundcard

kde plays a sound when begins and y had tried all the output plugins
some ideas??

apt-get install xmms-arts

Then start xmms and configure it to use the arts output plugin.

Umm, that might get you into trouble later if you are running KDE.
KDE wants to own the sound device completely with no other processes accessing it directly. Instead it offers another service (arts) to which other processes wishing to produce sound should connect to.
