knoppix hangs [freeze] on the beginning !! how to correct ??

Dear all,

I have been using knoppix for almost 2 months (i am new to linux) and now suddenly it doesn't start !!!

it hangs in the middle with something like:

mask (0xffffffffff)

what I can do to repair the damage?

Are you running Knoppix from CD or from Hard-drive? If from cd then I would say to make sure that the media is clean, try it in a different drive or on a different computer (to make sure the disk isn't trash).
If, on the other hand, you are running from hard drive, then post again and try to be more specific on where exactly it hangs.
