I have an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ with 256 megs of RAM and a Radeon 7000.

Booting with knoppix shows the graphic screen where it loads the kernel but then the screen goes blank.

Using vga=normal fixes it to some extent. Now it reacher "Uncompressing kernel...Done." And when it tries to boot the kernel, nothing happens. No processor activity, no CD spinning. failsafe and all other cheats simply set me back to when the screen would go blank. This CD ran quite well on two other machines (includinga laptop), so I don't get what could be causing the problem, since apparently i already got through with the radeon problem.

How can I exactly make the kernel boot up properly then?

I haven't heard of any AMD based machine having this problem before but the symptoms are identical to what I got. For me the only thing that seems to help is booting with a kernel without SMP support. Check these threads:

and
http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8053
(the later indicates it might be possible to fix it by replacing the BIOS, which for one guy got the latest version working with the nosmp cheat code)

with nosmp i still get no results, however i will try flashing the BIOS and looking for some better results.
